Angel (L) & Tira (R)
Tira is our latest addition to our livestock guardian dogs. Angel (1 of our 2 Corgi's) that still needs to learn she is not the top dog. But they both look ferocious here guarding the gate.

More erosion. Lost about 20% of the soil. All the leeks, cantalope and some of the mangrel beets.

April 24-26, 2011 Rain event

One Thunderstorm after another....for nearly 72 hours. An estimated 18" of rain (and probably more....my rain gauges overflowed)fell in less than 3 days onto ground that was already pretty saturated from rain the during the previous week. Below are some pictures taken around the property during a break on the 25th.

Our lower pond. It doesn't hold water. At least normally! It actually overflowed during the night after I took this picture. Overflow ran right through our garden. :(

A picture of our upper pond. It is full here whereas it normally is much lower....it is mostly filled with rain run off and, as I discovered while out taking pictures, a small spring that runs after a good rain.

#1 dam is on the upper part of the seasonal stream that runs along our side of the fence line.

Looking upstream towards #1 dam

Looking upstream towards very small #2 dam. Vantage point is about 50' upstream from the falls.

Looking upstream from just above the falls.

Lower part of the falls. I wish the pictures could convey the sound of the falling, rushing water. To be able to look all around and just see trees and the water. Truly, God blessed us.

Angel questioning the wisdom of following me.
